The largest outdoor pool in the world is in Algarrobo, Chile (San Alfonso del Mar resort) and it is 1 km long and has set the world record for the world’s largest outdoor swimming pool. The pool fills itself with 250,000 cubic meters of water from the Pacific. At parts the pool gets to depths of 35 meters (115 feet). But the most impressive issue is the annual cost of operation is close to 1/10th of the annual cost of maintenance of a golf court of the same dimension. The water is purified thanks to a technology developed and patented by the engineers that designed the pool.
